HANK`S WALLEYE INFO

Average: Walleye
Length: 13 to 25 inches
Weight: 2 to 7 pounds
Walleyes live about seven years, and most do not reach the 18inch length at that age they stay in a class of different sizes till death, but are most often caught as one- to three-pounds ,three to five year-olds.the largest individual on record weighed almost 12 pounds. The record catch is a 22 pound, 11 ounce fish from Greers Ferry Lake, Arkansas.
I also talked with some fish farms and they agree that most walleye do not reach the trophy size ,just like a lot of fish species,(and humans, not everyone is over 6ft tall)(like Bass, most are 3 to 4 lbs.at lifes expectancy and a few reach the 6,7,8 up to 9 lb range in this area but just a few compaired to all the numbers of bass in the lake,

I believe this tells us a lot and why we do have some tropy Walleye in our Lake ,but most like a lot of species are average sizes, think we should lower the length limit to 15" like some surrounding Lakes but keep the Limit at 2 per day. and then after this year start the restocking program with a smaller size with more abundancy in stocking, will save money to use for a lot of other species.we can try a program like this for 3 to 5 years and see what the out come is,and also the I am told the fish that servive are stronger by growing up in the lake instead of hand feed till they are 8inches long or more.

Also, it has been told to me it is better to release the fish out in the open water in different places, I talked to Charlie Wallace and we can bring our own buckets and I will bring my boat and we can take them out on the main lake and dump buckets at different locations.
any ideas or other information is welcome, we can discuss this more at the next fishing club meeting in November,Bring your ideas and any info..

The hybrid bluegill may arrive this Sunday,Monday or Tuesday, I will let you know when I know more.
Thanks,Hank,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, ok I am going fishing, see you on the lake..............
